  Appendages (rudder and keel)
    -cracks and crazing
    -rust seepage
    -leading and trailing edge damage
    -check keep bolts or GRP encapsulation
  Rig and Rigging
    -is spar in column
    -spreader tip and root
    -condition of terminals
    -mast step
    -look over chain plates
  Sailing Hardware
    -operational status
    -metal corrosion
    -condition of fasteners
    -structural base
  Sails
    -Inventory and vessel/crew needs
    -draft and shape issues
    -stitching
    -condition of cloth
    -condition of luff tape/hanks/rings/etc.
  Thru-Hulls
    -signs of leakage
    -corrosion and electrolysis
    -valve operation
    -hoses and clamps
    -grounding/bonding
  Hatches and ports
    -check for leaks with hose pressure directly on gaskets (storm conditions)
    -look over structural elements
    -note signs of moisture intrusion
    -condition of gaskets
  Engine and Drive Train
    -forensic look into engine room
    -check mounts and drive train
    -stuffing box and stern tube
    -shaft and cutlass bearing
  Plumbing and Pumps
    -safety priority (sink exercise)
    -signs of leakage
    -tighten clamps
    -check head inflow, MDS and discharge
  Tankage
    -check fuel for algae and asphalt
    -open clean outs and inspect
    -check for leaks
    -look over how tanks are held in place
  Batteries
    -measure specific gravity of each cell
    -check no load voltage @ full charge
    -clean terminals and check wiring
    -inspect hold down hardware
  Electrical / Electronic Systems
    -test all circuits
    -look at exposed terminal strips
    -check volt, amp, battery monitors
    -check alternator output
    -operate each piece of electronic gear
  Galley
    -Inspect LPG/CNG gas system
    -test refer function
    -run water change filter
    -inspect locker latches and hold downs
  Cabin Accommodations
    -dry berths and functional lee cloths
    -safe and not slippery cabin sole
    -good handholds
    -no flying objects
