AUTONAV auto pilot was installed during spring 1999. The computer was installed on the port wall of the hanging locker behind the engine. The fluxgate compass was installed under the floorboards, at the boat's "pivot point". The electrically driven hydraulic system was installed over the rudder quadrant, such that the ram cylinder extends from the rudder post to port. An opening had to be cut in the side bulkhead to make room for the cylinder arm. The black device with the push rods connected to the rudder, is the position potentiometer which tells the computer the position of the rudder. I installed everything on one solid platform so that the cylinder, fluid reservoir and hydraulic pump could be removed as a unit. There is no need to disconnect any messy hydraulic hoses to remove the unit. The platform itself is held to the rudder support with 5 3x1/4 inch bolts. The rudder will move from hard-over to hard-over in 22 seconds. |

| Spring Haulout 2001 This year, the boat was "on the hard" for nearly a month and a half. Twelve years of accumulative bottom paint was stripped off the hull. The prop shaft got an extensive refit. A new water heater and a new stove was installed. What an expensive overhaul! This is definitely going to be a money-losing year! |
