Ever wonder if your Racor pre-filter needs to be changed?  This is a two second install which places a vacuum gauge on top of your Racor . 

They were at the Annapolis Sailboat Show where I saw this on display. 

Cost was $86.40. 

Their item number: CFS CG-4-3030-SS, Stainless Steel Vacuum Gauge w/Max Indicator Needle. 

Gauge is oil filled to keep the reading steady. 

According to a Yanmar mechanic the Yanmar 4JHE 44HP diesel will stop pulling in fuel at about 20 in/Hg. 

So if your engine quits- a quick glance will determine if the problem is with the filter.     (10/12/00)
